The hieroglyph is one of the oldest writings (Egypt Words and Meanings) developed around 4000 B.C. The pictorial representations are so pleasing to look at. 1. ABTU

This place is known by the common name Abydos meaning the seat of adulation of Osiris. Further, it can be described according to the Egyptian convention as the sunset when the sun went by and entered the netherworld.

2. AKER

It represents duple lion deity who was considered as the godparent of dawn and dusk, submits that kissed the sky; western being the Manu and eastern being the Bakhu.

3. AKH

Akh meant the characteristic of deceased which would bond with the God of netherworld being eternal and consistent. Once the deceased is on his journey to the underworld; epitaphic transcripts and hexes were formed which further brought the ankh thus not allowing the individual to die for the next time.

4. AMENTA

It meant the netherworld. It was the place of dusk.

5. AMULET

It meant charisma and magic, was depicted in form of sacrosanct animals; also was carved out of gems. They were worn as an ornament throughout the life and after death too.

6. BASTET

It was feline headed divinity who was known by the common name the sun goddess. She depicted life and warmth.

7. BAKHU

It was the fabled mount from which first light came at the time of dawn.

8. BARQUE

It was a dinghy which sailed deities.

9. BOOK OF THE DEAD

It is one of the famous and prominent ancient Egyptian words and meaning being an assortment of charmed hexes written on papyrus. It belonged to Egyptian tombs and was kept beside the dead as it was supposed that it helped the dead in their entourage to the netherworld.

10. CANOPIC JARS

Canopic jars were 4 in number each representing the sons of Horus. In these jars, core organs of the lifeless were kept.

11. CARTONNAGE

It was the linen sodden in plaster which was used for mummified bodies façades and sarcophaguses.

12. CENOTAPH

It meant void sepulture. It was built for ritualistic tenacities.

13. DESHRET

It meant the red tinged diadem.

14. DJEW

It represented mountains. Egyptians had a belief about the existence of an extraterrestrial peak which held the dreamland or the paradise. Djew was also used in tombs which symbolized the deceased going here in his afterlife.

15. DROMOS

It is an upright cemented Boulevard skirted by sphinxes.

16. DUAT

It is known as the plot of the departed.
